Herm Island Legionella Risk Assessment

Lead Risk Assessor David Edwards spent a very cold week in February carrying out a Legionella Risk Assessment of every building on Herm Island in the Channel Islands. This included all the holiday accomodation, residential houses and the shop, pub and cafe. David spent the week living on the beautiful, tiny Island and needed to walk to all the buildings as there are no cars are permitted on Herm.

Dantek use a disinfection system which allows for minimal disruption for residents and building users while ensuring the site is safe and compliant with current guidlines for legionella control.

HSE Consultation to review the ACoP L8 by end of 2013

The current ACoP L8 publication is in 2 parts. Part 1 is an ACoP and provides advice on complying with legal requirements concerning the risk from exposure to legionella bacteria. Part 2 provides technical guidance on the control of legionella in water systems.

The proposal is to revise Part 1 and to remove part 2, and make it available separately as a revised technical guidance. Both parts will be published by the end of 2013.
