Stay safe, clean and limescale-free
With a regular cleaning and disinfection routine, we can stop your showerheads from becoming blocked due to limescale – and ensure they’re not a breeding ground for legionella bacteria.
How safe are your showerheads?
Did you know that your showerheads need to be cleaned and descaled at least four times a year? That’s the current guidance from the ACoP L8 on how to prevent and control the spread of the bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease.
Cleaning and disinfecting your showers makes sense. Not only can limescale block up your showerheads and diminish their performance, but it also provides nutrients for bacteria to feed on. And when the showers are in use, it creates an aerosol effect, allowing bacteria to be inhaled by the user.
The good news is that at Dantek, no matter how many showerheads you have, we’re highly experienced at ensuring they all stay clean and safe. It’s not unusual for us to have a contract that covers more than 2000 showers at a setting like a university campus. That means we’re used to the challenges of working on this scale and the sensitivities around entering people’s private space to carry out the work. However big or small the job, our engineers will carry out all work to the highest standards, and to the required method statement, ensuring you stay compliant.
How we clean your showerheads
Dantek engineers are trained to remove, take apart and clean all types of showerheads and hoses, ensuring they’re left gleaming and safe to use. This is what we’ll do:
- The showerhead will be dismantled so all parts including the head, inserts and hose, can be cleaned.
- All limescale will be removed, along with any biofilms. This is a thin layer of micro-organisms which can form a slime. If left, these provide the perfect place for legionella bacteria to thrive.
- All shower parts are submerged in a dilute solution of Showerhead Plus, a cleaning product that contains an acid formulation as well as a sanitiser.
- Everything is then scrubbed before being rinsed thoroughly.
- Each clean will be recorded on the electronic logbook and can easily be reported on so you can keep on track of the cleaning schedule
